4 Teams. 26 Operations. 4 Hours.
An assembly line needed to hit a 23% output increase without adding shifts. Four analytical teams used Power Belt's shared workspace to deliver a complete balancing study in a single 4-hour workshop.
The Challenge
An assembly line with 26 operations was running at a Takt Time of 90 seconds. The customer increased orders and demanded a new Takt Time of 70 seconds — a 23% throughput increase. The company wanted to avoid adding shifts. The goal was clear: identify and eliminate waste so the same team could produce 23% more output.
The Solution
Four analytical teams received 4 Power Belt licenses, all connected in a single shared project. The teams spent two hours filming on the production floor, then one hour independently processing their analyses within Power Belt. Because all teams worked in the same shared project, every analysis was instantly visible to everyone. Power Belt automatically compiled the balancing study from all 26 operations. The teams immediately began brainstorming improvement ideas and defining solutions based on the waste patterns identified across the entire line.
Key Results
The full workshop — from filming to final improvement proposals — was completed in just 4 hours. Power Belt processed 343 individual analyses across the 26 operations. The balancing study revealed that 16.19% of activities were non-value-adding (NVA), 19.09% were value-enabling (VE), and 65.51% were value-adding (VA). The shared workspace eliminated version conflicts and email chains, and the team left the workshop with actionable improvement proposals to meet the new 70-second Takt Time target.
“I used to set aside a full week for a project. A great helper for my productivity.”
